WR calculator: standard vs PPR example

This WR calc scores a wide receiver in whichever format your league uses. The only line that changes between formats is the reception, and it changes a receiver's value a lot. Take a WR who catches 8 passes for 95 yards and 1 touchdown:

FormatReception valueTotal points
Standard0 per catch15.5
Half-PPR0.5 per catch19.5
Full PPR1 per catch23.5

Same stat line, eight points apart. That is why target volume drives WR value in PPR. Enter your receiver's numbers in the WR calculator above to see the total in your exact format.

WR scoring rules

  • • Reception (PPR) = +1 pt (half-PPR = +0.5 pt)
  • • 10 receiving yards = +1 pt
  • • Receiving TD = +6 pts
  • • 10 rushing yards = +1 pt (jet sweeps, end-arounds)
  • • Rushing TD = +6 pts
  • • Fumble lost = -2 pts
  • • 2-point conversion = +2 pts

WR FAQs

How are wide receiver fantasy points calculated?

In standard scoring: 1 point per 10 receiving yards, 6 points per receiving TD, -2 per fumble lost. PPR adds 1 point per reception (0.5 in half-PPR), which is the dominant scoring driver for high-volume slot receivers.

What is a good fantasy week for a WR?

15+ points is a strong WR week in PPR. 20+ is elite. Slot WRs with 8+ catches floor at 12 PPR points before any TDs, making target volume more predictive than yards.

Why do slot WRs benefit most from PPR?

Slot receivers run shorter, higher-percentage routes and catch more passes. A slot WR with 9 catches earns 9 PPR points before yardage. That volume floor is unmatched outside of pass-catching RBs.
