How kickers get points in fantasy football
Kicker fantasy points come almost entirely from field goals and extra points, and field goals are scored by distance. The standard fantasy football kicker scoring is 3 points for a field goal of 0 to 39 yards, 4 points for 40 to 49 yards, and 5 points for 50 or more yards. Every extra point (PAT) is worth 1 point, and most leagues subtract 1 point for a missed field goal.
The distance tiers reward long kicks, so a kicker who hits two 50-plus-yard field goals can outscore one who makes three short ones. What is a good fantasy week for a kicker?
7-9 points is a solid kicker week. 12+ is great. Elite weeks (multiple long FGs + 4 PATs) push 15+. Bad weeks against tough defenses or bad weather can land at 2-3 points.
When should you draft a kicker?
Always last. Kicker performance is nearly random year-to-year. Stream kickers based on weekly matchup: target dome teams in bad weather weeks and high-scoring offenses with red zone struggles.
